Antirrhinum majus 'DoubleShot Peach' is a robust Half-Hardy Annual (H3). As a high-performance F1 Hybrid, it possesses exceptional genetic uniformity and "hybrid vigour," leading to stronger cellular structure and improved resistance to environmental stressors. Biologically, the 'DoubleShot' series is engineered for intermediate height (45-55cm), creating a stocky, wind-resistant architecture that thrives in exposed UK gardens.

The "Open-Face" Biology: Unlike traditional "personate" Snapdragons that remain closed, this variety features fully double, open-faced blooms. This morphology is significant for biodiversity; it allows a wider range of British pollinators, including smaller solitary bees and hoverflies, to access the nectar reservoirs that are usually restricted to heavy-bodied bumblebees.

Weather Resilience: The primary breakthrough of this variety is its structural integrity. The stems are significantly thicker and more fibrous than heirloom types, enabling the plant to carry its heavy, rose-like floral heads through summer storms and coastal winds without the need for intensive staking or support.

Snapdragon seeds are minute and require specific light conditions and temperature management to ensure successful germination.

How to Sow:
Sow indoors from January to March. Surface sow the seeds onto moist, high-quality seed compost and do not cover them; Antirrhinum seeds are photoblastic and require light to trigger germination. Simply press them gently into the surface to ensure contact. Maintain a consistent temperature of 20-22°C—a heated propagator or warm kitchen windowsill is ideal. Germination is reliable, typically occurring within 10-14 days.

Where to Plant:
They demand full sun to develop their most intense sunset pigments and thrive in any reasonably fertile, well-drained soil. They are specialists of windy, exposed borders and high-end patio containers. Space plants 25cm apart to allow for their bushy, branching architecture. Crucial: Only plant out in late April or May once the risk of hard frost has passed.

The "Essential Pinch":
To transform a single-stemmed plant into a productive multi-stemmed "bouquet factory," you must pinch out the growing tips once the seedlings reach 15cm in height. This forces the plant to branch from the base, resulting in a significantly more floriferous display. Regular harvesting of the spikes for the vase signals the plant to continue producing fresh, peach-toned buds until the first frosts of autumn.

The warm apricot-peach tones of 'DoubleShot Peach' pair spectacularly with available partners from our range:

• Salvia viridis 'Oxford Blue': The Sunset Contrast. A high-chroma, professional-looking combination. The deep velvety indigo bracts of the Salvia make the soft peach Snapdragons absolutely glow with warmth, creating a designer-grade "sunset sky" effect in the border.
• Rudbeckia 'Marmalade': The Vintage Mix. For a sophisticated aesthetic, pair the ruffled Snapdragons with the flat, golden-amber faces of Rudbeckia. Both species share an antique colour palette that feels professional and timeless, providing a long-season wall of architectural interest.

Sow indoors in early spring for a summer-long harvest of double peach blooms that will provide professional-grade stems for the vase until October.
